June at the Media Center

Combine Cam

We are happy to partner with Zeorian Harvesting & Trucking, the High Plains Journal, and All Aboard Wheat Harvest again this year! At the beginning of June, Grant met the Z Crew in Kinsley, Kansas, to install the combine cam. Never heard of the combine cam? We mount a GoPro inside a New Holland combine and stream wheat harvest live online. This year, the Media Center is also in charge of maintenance, so we are constantly monitoring the stream and are available for troubleshooting. You can catch all of the action from wheat harvest by going to allaboardharvest.com.

Hill City Shoot

Grant teamed up with the High Plains Journal again later in the month to film corn planting near Hill City, Kansas. The footage will be edited by the HPJ team and used as promotion for Servi-Tech in Dodge City.

Ness City Wedding

Our first wedding of 2017 took place in June! Grant traveled to Ness City, Kansas, to film Megan and Brett’s special day.  It was a beautiful wedding, and we were grateful to be involved! If you are interested in seeing more of our wedding videography, head on over to our WeddingWire page.

Wyrick Hunting Website

We helped Wyrick Farms launch a new website for their guided hunts. Check out the new site at huntwyrickfarms.com and be sure to follow them on Facebook, too.

2017 Wheat Harvest

Last year, Grant rode around with several Kiowa County farmers during wheat harvest. He was able to produce this video about what harvest and farming means to them. We’ve had a great response on social media, with over 101,000 Facebook views, over 700 likes, and over 1,000 shares! Agriculture is such a vital part of our community, and we are thankful to be able to share the stories of our local farmers.

3D Printing

This year’s Kiowa County Library summer reading theme was “Build a Better World.” Mike had the opportunity to demonstrate 3D printing to two groups of kids. Everybody had fun, and each kid went home with a 3D printed bookmark!

Technology and Productivity Conference

If you haven’t heard about the conference that is coming up in August, now is your chance to sign up! The Media Center will hold a FREE tech conference on August 3 from 9am to 12pm. The conference will take place at the Twilight Theatre in Greensburg. Mike and Grant will be walking through the basics of the programs When I Work, Asana, and Slack. We believe that these programs can be beneficial to organizations large and small, including boards and individuals. The purpose of this conference is education, not sales. We are not being paid a commission, we just want to tell everyone how awesome these programs are!

If you would like to register to attend (for free!), please go to kwksmedia.org/conference to sign up. This project was made possible by a local farmer and America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. Thanks to Gene and Jan West for nominating us for this grant!
