Wrapping Up August

The end of August kicks off our fall high school sports coverage, and also puts us in the middle of wedding season. We are looking forward to all of our upcoming events!

Ebert/Wood Wedding

Grant headed to Kinsley for our second wedding of 2017. Haleigh and Clayton’s ceremony was held at St. Nicholas Parish Hall. Afterward, the couple celebrated with friends and family at the community building in Greensburg. We were glad to be able to provide videography services for their happy and carefree day!

Solar Eclipse Program

Everyone was focused on the sky in August, due to the upcoming solar eclipse. Local science teacher Tonya Greenleaf gave an educational presentation about the eclipse at the Kiowa County Library. She explained what causes an eclipse, and also what to expect while the eclipse was happening. The Media Center was able to stream Mrs. Greenleaf’s presentation online for those who could not be there. Everyone who attended received a free pair of eclipse glasses! Kiowa County Fall Sports

You may know that Kiowa County Media Center streams all high school varsity volleyball and football games during the fall. However, did you realize that our entire broadcast crew is made up of volunteers? Students and community members give their time to help run cameras, provide commentary, and more. In addition to the people you see in the gym with cameras, there are more crew members inside our production trailer, running the broadcast. During the first home volleyball quad, we had nine team members working hard to bring you all three Kiowa County matches. Due to the amount of effort that goes into each production, we only stream high school varsity games at this time.

If you are interested in joining our live event crew, just get in touch with our Creative Director, Grant Neuhold. We are always looking for more volunteers! Grant can be reached at 620-723-1117. The Media Center also streams other types of events. You can learn more by going to our live event page.
